Our Angel at Snow Mountain Park
You know how some people are just the best at what they do and it shows in the most unexpected ways? We met a gal at a recent visit to Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park who deserves Employee of the Year if that award exists there. Her name is Alice Rivera (I sure hope I’m remembering it right) and we think of her as an angel of sorts. The picture above shows her giving a high-five to my youngest child.
Here’s the story behind the picture. My youngest was in line to go down the slope at Snow Mountain on a tube on her own. It turned out to be a little higher than she thought once she was at the top, so she was hoping her dad or I could ride with her sitting on our lap, but that wasn’t permitted. So, after waiting to ride, she was just going to walk back down the ramp to leave. But Alice saw her disappointment and recognized her fear. So, she offered to guide her tube down the hill and then let my daughter go on her own where it’s flat and less frightening.
This gal had her hands full. It was a busy day. Few other employees had the holiday spirit, to be totally honest. We really weren’t feeling the love, so to speak, until our interaction with Alice.
So, thanks Alice for the extra effort, and for making Snow Mountain such a warm place to spend a chilly morning. If you, the reader, happen to end up at Snow Mountain this year, definitely ask if Alice is working, and please tell her thanks for showing such kindness to a little girl who just needed an extra hand (and a high five!). This made me want to cry, Desiree! How I long to be that person who touches a life in such a way and how I desire to reward those people who make a difference in my children’s lives.

Andi…I bet you already are that person to a whole bunch of people! I have only met you once and remember being so impressed…you have your amazing Disney connections, run marathons, are kind and beautiful, too.

I love it when people like Alice cross our paths. For me personally, they renew the hope that there are others who aren’t in the drone of life, forgetting that we’re each human and each connected. Yeah for Alice!
