A Night of Hope Helps Women a World Away
Want to know how to help women a world away without leaving Georgia?
Join ‘A Night of Hope’ at the LONA Gallery this Saturday.
Some very dear friends are hosting a fundraiser that will help build a clinic for women in Ethiopia.
Why should you care? Why do they?
Well, their sons’ mother died giving birth there and they never want such a senseless loss to happen again.
Kindred and Meredith Howard became my friends last year when I was working on a sneak preview of the movie, ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’. Their sons, adopted from Ethiopia, were featured in the movie when the character played by Jennifer Lopez adopted a child from that country. They played that son in the movie.
People poured attention over them when they heard the boys were ‘J. Lo’s child’ in the show.
Now, maybe those same people will pour attention over the children as their adoptive parents work to honor their birth mother’s memory.
They hope to build a four room birthing center in the rural Ethiopian town of Bichena. At this birthing center, women can labor, deliver, and recover in a facility dedicated to their care and good health.
The Howards are working with One Clinic at a Time (CAAT) to accomplish this mission.
You can help by taking part in the fundraiser being held this Saturday, May 18th, from 7pm to 10pm at the LONA Gallery in Lawrenceville, GA.
You can get more information here.
Hope to see you there!
