Our Trip to Tallahassee–a Little of Everything
Tallahassee feels a whole lot like Washington DC when it comes to museums for your family…they’re everywhere you look and each of them is interesting.
My husband, 6 yr old daughter and 17 yr old son hit four in one day and (to be honest) dreaded the idea of getting through them all. So, I tried my best to turn it into an adventure, seeing if we could make it through each in under an hour and still get a great experience out of them. I failed—an hour wasn’t long enough for the visits—but I succeeded in making it an adventure because we really enjoyed ourselves. Really. And that says a lot about the tours we took. We went from the Florida History Museum to the Mary Brogan Museum to the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. We could have gotten away without getting back in the car once. We also went to the Tallahassee Museum (a few miles away) that day and a tour of Mission San Lois. We also ate the biggest slice of pizza I have ever seen, saw a shooting (technically, we heard a shooting, didn’t see it, but still, more adventure) and got the grand tour of Florida State University. You can read more about every bit of it on TravelingMom.com.
(Note to the reader: My family was invited by the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to visit Tallahassee. Some of our expenses were covered. My opinion of what we did and saw is my own and I was not compensated for the review.)
