Budding Gardeners and the Kalso Earth Shoe Scholarship
There’s a group of Budding Growers at my daughter’s elementary school who have big goals and a small (ok, tiny) budget. However, telling them their goals are not possible would be like telling me kudzu doesn’t cover Georgia. These kiddos might have tiny green thumbs but they are doing huge things with them, and the Kalso Earth Shoe Scholarship would take them a long way toward meeting those goals.
These Budding Growers need more supplies, and they’re good at getting them donated. But people aren’t as eager to give big ticket items, like these cool Convert-a-Benches that can be used as tables they can use for potting, holding picnics in their garden, and so much more, yet also convert to little park benches where we can all sit and relax and enjoy Mother Nature’s glory (and all of their hard work).
The Kalso Earth Shoe Scholarship could be converted to a bench-buying-bonanza for these elementary-aged gardening gurus. And they’d be there for years to come for so many others to enjoy. They’d also be able to splurge on some seeds and other supplies which we could happily monitor on the blog, reporting back weekly on how things are growing (along with their Facebook page). Take a look at the garden now, in the video below. Imagine it blooming in April!
Who knows? They may even inspire others to start their own gardens, turning this into a service project that truly grows, in more ways than one. Isn’t that what this is all about?
