What to Do for Spring Break in Atlanta
If your family is feeling the pinch of the high gas prices but still looking for something fun to do this week for spring break, why not check out some of the fun things in your own backyard with a “staycation”? I recently wrote an entire guide for Trip Advisor on all the fun things for families to do in Atlanta and it hit me that my children hadn’t seen several of them. Sure, we’ve been to the Aquarium (and will again), and gone to a Braves game or two, but never to Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthplace, or the Center for Puppetry Arts, so using this week to hit the sites of our hometown.
If you want some ideas for fun this week, why not check out the options below?
STONE MOUNTAIN GEYSER TOWERS
This sound like it’s ideal for kids of all ages with challenging rope bridges and net tunnels that connect to towering platforms that overlook a geyser gushing with water. The million dollar construction was started in November and just opened March 31st. It is the second of its kind IN THE WORLD and the only one in North America to integrate water features. And guess what moms and dads…there’s a spot near a trickling creek where mom and dad can relax in the shade.
We’ll probably go climb Stone Mountain and catch the laser show that night, too. We’ve done that before but it’s been a while. It’s one of my favorite memories as a child growing up in Florida, driving up to visit friends and climbing the mountain just to walk right back down it (and collect the certificate confirming we did it!). You can find out more by clicking here.
CENTER FOR PUPPETRY ARTS PETER PAN
You may be staying close to home but that doesn’t mean a journey to Neverland is out of the question. The Center for Puppetry Arts is hosting an adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s beloved children’s book Peter Pan witha Peter, Wendy and Tinkerbell. Peter Pan celebrates the carefree spirit of childhood and the value of following your dreams. Directed and adapted by the Center’s own Michael Haverty, and featuring original music from Jeffrey Bützer, Peter Pan will enchant audiences of all ages.
ATLANTA HAWKS GAMES
