How to Save at College–Rent the Textbooks!
With my first child now halfway into his first semester at college, I have a bit of experience and wisdom to share with other parents who will head down this path some day.
The main tip—save money now because it’s going to cost you a pretty penny to get them there.
One of the biggest surprises comes when they go to buy their textbooks. But here’s a secret: you don’t have to BUY them! I know you probably realize there are used books as options, but you don’t have to buy them, either.
That’s because it’s possible to RENT textbooks these days.
Yep. Rent them.
Trust me, you’ll be saving yourself some serious bucks on books if you take this advice.
By renting from sites such as CampusBookRentals.com you’ll end up shaving 40 to 90 percent off the cost of a book! Click here to see an example.
Don’t want to stress over the shipping? No worries. It’s free. Both ways.
And here’s another perk. With each textbook rented a donation is made to Operation Smile, the organization that helps “fix smiles” of children around the world with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities.
Win-win-win, right?
(Reader note: Campus Book Rentals compensated me for this review with a $50 credit to their site, however my opinions remain my own. I absolutely recommend all college students (and their parents) check out the option!)
