Macy’s Pink Pig Holiday Tradition is Back in Atlanta
Certain things are known as a holiday tradition in Atlanta, and riding Priscilla, the Pink Pig, at Macy’s is one of them.
From 1953 until 1991 it was actually part of Rich’s downtown and at that point the ride didn’t follow a track on the ground, it was suspended in the air from a cable and moved that way.
From 1992 through 1995 it was part of the Festival of Trees. In 1996 it retired to the Atlanta History Center.
And now, this version is making its way through the huge tent set up each year outside Macy’s Lenox Square (set up at the upper level parking deck).
This year, your family can be part of some extra special celebrations during two breakfasts that are scheduled on Saturday, November 17th and Saturday, December 15th. My daughter and I were lucky enough to sit in on the kickoff breakfast this weekend where we were treated to pink pancakes, face painting, and a complimentary photo package, along with the famous ride.
Tickets are on sale for the special breakfasts now. Adults are $16.99 and children (2-10) are $9.99 and it benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. You can make reservations by calling 770-913-5877.
If you simply want to ride and skip the breakfast, you can get tickets for $3. The dates and times are listed below. Keep in mind the line can get long, especially closer to the holiday.
You can also see a video of the ride below (this is from our trip last year).
