What to Do When Your Hotel Has No Chocolate
I know, I know. It shouldn’t even be conceivable for a hotel to have no chocolate. I certainly didn’t think it was possible.
But I found one tonight.
Sort of.
I checked in late, ordered dinner because I planned to work from my room all night and wanted to get down to it. I thought about getting dessert but figured I could do without. Besides, I didn’t see anything with chocolate on the menu.
Something must have been planted in my brain after that because it was all I could think about almost as soon as I finished my meal.
I had to have chocolate.
And I’m no chocolate snob. I’m good with the stuff you find in a typical vending machine.
So, I called the front desk and asked where the vending machine was located in this hotel.
And that’s when I got the big shock.
They don’t have a vending machine here.
Seriously.
And no chocolate in the restaurant.
Really.
You could have peeled me off the floor. I was that stunned.
So, I debated going on out to find my fix. Just like any other street thug with an addiction.
Luckily, I stopped at the manager’s desk to see what store might be within walking distance. I really didn’t want to hear that I’d have to call a cab to find my chocolate.
And that’s when the manager made my day. And my night.
He shared his own private stash with me. Yep…he went back into his private office and came out with a handful of truffles. Not really my chocolate of choice, but I was in need. And at that point, I knew not to be all picky.
So, it is with deep gratitude I sit and enjoy the chocolate shared by the manager of this magnificent hotel. And, with a mouthful of heaven, I share this advice with you: when your hotel has no chocolate, get dressed and go out on your own quest to fill that need. Who knows…you may not even have to walk out the front door to find your fix.
