A Salute to Veterans of our Past-Today and Always
There’s a church with a cemetery that my family visited while in St. Simons Island last summer that really took us back in time.
It’s Christ Church in Federica, and you’ll find veterans from all of the wars buried there. Some of the grave markers are too weathered to easily see the information about the person who died, but most can be read with a little effort.
Seeing the graves brings their sacrifice home to me, makes the loss “real” in my mind, instead of just a statistic in “the number of dead” from a war.
These veterans, all of our military members, are real people, most likely with parents, spouses, and children who love them.
Veterans make the choice to put their lives on the line to protect our country. Their sacrifice is worth acknowledging every day, not just Veteran’s Day.
