‘Tipping Sacred Cows’ Book Review–A Wake Up Call
I’ve had a whole lot of change in my life recently, with great surprises mixed in with cruel betrayals, and it’s all rocked me to the core, so maybe that’s why I was drawn to the book, Tipping Sacred Cows, by Betsy Chasse, co-creator of the film ‘What the Bleep Do We Know?!’.
I was sent an early copy to review (it will be released for sale on January 21, 2014).
The very first page hit me square between the eyes:
“How to Get Coldcocked by an Epiphany (or Waking Up Can Suck or Not Suck Depending on How You Handle Your Shit)”
Yes. That’s the title of her Preface. Yes, I can totally identify.
And yes, there’s a bit of bad language mixed in, so my apologies to those of you insulted by that, but I don’t see how you can talk about the stuff in life that leaves you raw without letting out an occasional curse word or two. Or three.
Chasse keeps it real throughout her story, sharing intimate thoughts and lessons she’s picked up after her epiphany that the supposedly-happy life she created was more farce than fact.
You can’t tell me you haven’t had these moments…times when you stopped long enough to wonder what the heck happened to your life and where on the path to happiness things took a detour? Not that you don’t have moments of bliss, but you know what I mean (if you’re being honest with yourself, which is what ‘Tipping Sacred Cows’ is all about).
Sure, you can get through the day grinning at everyone who goes by, but you know in your gut something is wacky. And ultimately you need to do something about it.
Chasse shares her journey in this book and she does it in a humorous, authentic style that makes you wish you could go buy her a drink and pour out your soul, too.
Because that’s the thing. We’re all a little screwed up. The only thing that makes it better is knowing we’re in such good company.
Not sure you can trust my opinion on this one (since I openly admit I’m a little off kilter these days)? Just listen to what these folks have to say. Then get ready to buy the book when it’s released in January.
“Betsy Chasse exemplifies the true strength of a woman. Along her beautiful journey of vulnerability and reflection, Tipping Sacred Cows teaches us the importance of taking a step back, realigning our intentions, and never giving up on what we want out of life.”-Mallika Chopra, Founder of Intent.com
“She is raw, open, honest, and hilarious as she tries to figure out what the hell to make of this life.” -Jenny McCarthy, cohost of The View, New York Times bestselling author
See? I’m in good company in saying it’s time to lose yourself in this book. Admit it. It’s probably been a while since you’ve been cow tipping (I’m talking about the sacred ones…we all know it’s just plain mean to do it to the real ones).
