Sprinkles Cupcakes Opens in Atlanta…Welcome to Yum, Y’all
In the South, we’re known for our hospitality, and when someone new comes to town, we roll out the welcome wagon, so here’s my sincere, personal ‘So glad you’re here’ greeting to Sprinkles Cupcakes.
The folks in Beverly Hills have long known how delicious Sprinkles Cupcakes are, with celebs even lining up around the block for the treats, and the same thing happens in New York City, but now, the franchise is calling Atlanta home, too.
Candace Nelson, the co-founder and creator of the chain, said it was a long time coming. When we met at the media opening for the new location at Lenox Mall, she told me she’d been looking for the right space in Atlanta for five years. She ended up with a great spot at Lenox, at the mall entrance where she can also locate one of her famous Cupcake ATMs. You heard that right. Sprinkles has Cupcake ATMs. They’re stocked each day with hundreds of the yummy treats.
I first became addicted to Sprinkles Cupcakes during a visit to New York. A friend told me they were a must-not-miss part of the city. He shared the back-story about how the owners, Candace and her husband, were successful in the financial industry but took a leap of faith and opened a cupcake store when others told her just how great her cupcakes tasted.
The Atlanta store is much larger than the one in New York (I can’t compare it to the one in California since I haven’t been there YET). It also offers ice cream…really, really good ice cream. And I’m a bit of an ice cream snob, so that’s saying something.
My only complaint: so many choices.
Truly, it’s hard to decide on what you want with so many delicious options.
They brag that they use only the finest ingredients, from sweet cream butter to Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, bittersweet Belgian chocolate to fresh strawberries and bananas. They’re all topped with the signature dot, unless you custom order something with a special design (very cool for special events).
They offer gluten-free options, along with sugar free choices, and even sell treats for your pets.
My personal favorites are the chocolate marshmallow cupcake and the triple chocolate ice cream.
If you give them a try, leave a comment below and let me know which flavor you like best.
And here’s a tip—if you go, keep an eye on their Facebook page because they are always revealing special codes that, if you share when you order, will get you a free cupcake when you order one.
You’re welcome.
