Discover the Forest–Time to Get Outdoors!
(Note to readers: I was compensated for sharing the word about this campaign. As always, my opinion remains my own. #tmom #ad #ForestChat)
There are few things more fun to me than spending time outdoors, whether it’s playing tennis with my friends or swimming in the backyard pool with my kids. It’s one of the best parts of living in the south—getting to enjoy the outdoors almost year round.
I especially love spending time outdoors with my family when we’re traveling…we’ve hit state parks near cornfields in Iowa and been swimming with dolphins in other countries. We like to see the world, so to speak.
One easy way to do that is with the web site DiscoverTheForest.org. The site features an interactive map tool that lets users search for nearby forests and parks, and filter by zip code and preferred activities. You can even download and print free outdoor activities that are available for the places you are visiting.
I especially love the Snapguides they offer…from helpful info like ‘How to Spot a Constellation’ to potentially life-saving guides like ‘How to Put Out a Campfire’ (I remember the rubbing two sticks together routine to start a fire that they taught in girl scouts, but honestly don’t remember that part about putting it out…kind of important, huh?).
Check out these videos with more information about what the site offers and then put all the info to use on your next trip away from home…or apply it in your own backyard. Enjoy!
