Supporting ‘the Girls’ this Summer: Intimacy Bras and Bathing Suits
(Note to readers: I was invited to an Intimacy event where I was professionally fitted again for the sake of a review. I was compensated with a bra and panty set, but decided to purchase a bathing suit on my own, because, well, read below and you’ll understand.)
It’s not easy finding a bathing suit you can love when you are ‘big up top’, or ‘well-endowed’, so to speak, so when you find a place that stocks bathing suits for women with big boobs (let’s just say it), it’s a pretty huge victory (pun intended).
For me, in Atlanta, that spot is Intimacy, a shop with bra fit stylists in Phipps Plaza near Lenox Mall.
I first heard about the shop when I think the rest of the world did—way back when Oprah featured them in one of her shows, but I didn’t become a customer until about two years ago. I kick myself for waiting so long.
Why, you ask?
Because, all these years, I’ve been wearing a bra in the wrong size. Odds are you are, too.
I know my size has changed through the years, depending on when I gain or lose weight, but when that happened, I thought I needed to change the band size—from 38 up or down, but rarely changed the cup size. I always knew I was a double D.
BUT I WAS WRONG!! VERY WRONG.
The gals at Intimacy fitted me professionally and, surprise of all surprises, it turns out I’m a 34G (yeah, I can’t believe I’m sharing that, either, but it is what it is).
Yeah. You read that right. I know. G. As in ‘Girl, her boobs are GIGANTIC!’ Who knew bra sizes even went up that high? Well, they go even higher into the alphabet. But the fact that I was only 34 on the band? Well, that made me feel better. I thought only the tiny gals wore 34’s.
I also felt better when I heard Sophia Vergara announce that she’s a 32F. I’m only one letter bigger than her and she’s a hottie. So, I’ll take it. But I digress.
My point is, when you find out the correct size, you then can buy the correct bra, which I promise—will make you look like you’ve lost ten pounds. INSTANTLY!!
And once you’ve found the right bra, imagine the frustration in finding the right bathing suit. You want to give the girls the support they need, right, especially around water?!
Well, Intimacy carries bathing suits for women with big boobs, too.
You have no idea how happy this makes me.
I am not the kind of gal who likes her ‘cup to runneth over’. I want the girls to be covered. So, I need a top that actually has enough material to do that. You can’t find that in your typical small, medium, large options. You need a suit that comes with a G cup if you’re a G size. Seems so simple, right?
And you need it to be pretty.
Intimacy can do all that.
They aren’t cheap, but they do last, and that helps. I call it the price of being busty. Trust me, there are lots of women with ‘less than’ who pay a lot for surgery to be in your shoes…or bra.
They have options for smaller boobs, too…very pretty options.
So, I say get your butt (and boobs) into Intimacy and check out their bathing suit options. I think your body will thank you for it. And so will the other people on the beach who appreciate your curves.
This 4th of July, you’ll be the one setting off fireworks.
