Great Holiday Gift: a Getaway Together to the Beach
Not sure what to get your family for the holidays?
In my opinion, the best present of all is always time together, and to make it memorable, why not travel together to a place everyone on your trip can enjoy?!
Travel is my go-to for a great gift and I’ll always be drawn to the beach, and being landlocked in Atlanta, that means a minimum 5 hour road trip, unless you want to shell out the bucks for flights for everyone. I personally think some of the world’s most beautiful beaches are within a half day’s travel on the road, so why not save the money for flights and use it on other fun stuff during your trip?
One of my favorite coastal areas just a few hours’ drive from Atlanta is Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama, probably because it offers so much unexpected fun. Most people aren’t even aware there ARE beaches in Alabama, since it’s often overshadowed by Florida, its neighbor to the east, but in a way, that makes the Alabama beaches even better, because they’re less likely to be crowded.
I’ve been to the area with friends, with family, and alone with my guy, and each trip offered something different to enjoy.
And if you’re wondering whether it’s a waste to go to the beach in the winter, my answer is nope. Not one bit. It’s peaceful. It’s pretty. And there’s still plenty to do.
