Stone Mountain Park’s Geyser Towers
Atlanta’s Stone Mountain Park is famous for its laser shows and the big granite rock that visitors can climb, but now a new feature, Geyser Towers, is attracting fans who like to splash around a bit.
It’s ideal for kids of all ages with challenging rope bridges and net tunnels that connect to towering platforms. While working your way through the towers you could be hit by a geyser gushing with water at any moment, in any direction.
The million dollar construction was started in November and opened March 31st. It is the second of its kind IN THE WORLD and the only one in North America to integrate water features. Moms and Dads might have a tough time getting through some of the features, but the challenge is worth the belly laughs you’ll have when the water splashes you at the moment you least expect.
When we go to Stone Mountain we make a point of climbing it. That can get pretty hot on a typical summer day in Atlanta and I can guarantee this will be a popular feature after a trip up and down the mountain.
It’s included in the fee you pay for extra attractions like the Sky Hike when visiting the park (just climbing the mountain is free but parking is $10 and the other attractions can be covered in one lump fee, other than riding the Ducks, which are also additional).
Be sure to check height requirements so that you don’t have any little ones disappointed when they are turned away for being too little (kiddos 32-46″ must have a chaperone 16 yrs or older with them). And make sure you pack closed toe shoes. They’re required.
If you’re visiting in the winter, make sure you check out Snow Mountain instead.
(Special note to readers: My family was invited to tour the Geyser Towers and admitted at no cost. We had a blast and considered this a fun part of the day. Our opinions about the exhibit remain our own.)
