Fun Stuff for Families in Atlanta This Weekend
If you have kids and want something fun to do this weekend in Atlanta, there are plenty of options.
SATURDAY
Swing by an area GM dealership for live music, free food and a chance to chat with your GM leaders. The program is called Project Outreach and it will be taking place this Saturday, March 26, at three different dealers in the Atlanta area (Carl Black Buick-GMC, Hennessy Cadillac and Jim Ellis Chevrolet).
I’m planning to go by the Kennesaw location where they have a lineup of some amazing talent set to perform (including Big Kenny of Big and Rich, the Dirt Drifters, Troy Olsen, Bradley Gaskin and Corbette Jackson). People pay big bucks to watch these guys perform and you can see them free at the Carl Black Buick-GMC dealership in Kennesaw.
There are links below for information on what’s happening at each dealership.

There’s also amazing entertainment scheduled in Downtown Woodstock on Saturday.
Streetfest 2011 is this Saturday, March 26th, in downtown Woodstock benefitting GreenPrints Alliance. (http://www.greenprintsalliance.org/) Drivin’ and Cryin’ is the headline band. Parking for the event is available at Woodstock Methodist Church & the former Woodstock Community Church both located on Towne Lake Parkway at Main Street; the gravel lot at Wall and Mill Street behind the stores on Main Street; the former city hall site at 103 Arnold Mill Road; Appalachian Tech off of Main Street; and on street parking in marked spaces only.
PLEASE NOTE: Coolers and outside food/drink will not be permitted to be brought into the event area. Keep in mind that this event is a fundraiser for a non-profit and is provided free of charge to the public. Funds are raised for our group through the sale of food and drinks. Thank you for your cooperation.
Adventure Race
The daylong event will start out in the early morning hours on Saturday March 26 with the start of the Challenge Four Adventure Race. As the racers finish this 22-mile race which features running, paddling, orienteering and biking, the Streetfest activities kick off.
Live Music
This is a free concert brought to you courtesy of Greenprints Alliance and our event sponsors, but donations to our group while you are enjoying the event are appreciated. The concert line-up is as follows:
- 12:30 PM: Marc Lawson
- 2:00 PM: Brent McDonald
- 3:30 PM: Scott Puckett Band
- 5:30 PM: The Vibes
- 7:00 PM: Drivin N Cryin
There is an expanded artist market this year during the day. Local artisans will be set up on the Chambers Street side of the event during the afternoon. Local restaurants Pure Taqueria and Canyon’s Burger Company will be serving their normal menus and some additional specials for the day. Also, we welcome some of the members of the Atlanta Streetfood Coalition as participants.
SUNDAY
Want a free breakfast? Then head down to Piedmont Park this Sunday, March 27 for Mrs. Butterworth’s Family Breakfast Ball! It’s set to happen outdoors but I’m told that rain or shine they will still be serving up breakfast fun Sunday morning. In the event of rain, the ball will happen inside Piedmont Park’s Magnolia Hall. Just follow signage throughout Piedmont Park, and you’ll find your way to the Breakfast Ball.
