Easter Fun For All Ages
I love Easter egg hunts, and I hate Easter egg hunts. I love the feverish rush to find all the pretty colored eggs, especially the one golden egg that always hides a $5 bill (that’s tradition in my house). But I hate that there’s always one little guy who will not find as many as the older children, or who will inevitably spill his entire basket only to have other children come steal the eggs away. So, I’ve tried some different kind of egg hunts in the past to make it more fun for everyone. The one I enjoy most is a hunt we actually hosted on our street with several of the neighborhood kiddos for a couple years straight. In this case, before we hide the eggs we write letters on them. Each egg gets a letter, ultimately spelling out Happy Easter. Then, each child has to find 11 eggs that will spell out that phrase. It’s harder than you think. Sometimes you can find 3 H’s but no E’s. That means you keep on hunting. Once a child graduates from that hunt I like to try the hunt at night trick. That’s where you wait until dark and then hide the eggs. Kids (and adults, too) get to use flashlights to find the eggs. It adds a bit of challenge to the fun and makes it a blast for all ages. No matter which hunt you go with, do have fun, and don’t forget to count the eggs before you hide them so that you know exactly how many you need to find before the fun is over. There’s nothing worse than a rotten egg found a month after Easter.
