A Style Session–Could There Be Hope for This Non-Diva?
People think I’m kidding when I tell them my five year old has more fashion sense than I do. I’m not. Not kidding that is. She can mix and match and come up with magnificent. I do the same and only end up with a mess. I feel like there’s potential here, but tend to always be drawn to the classics. Just take a look at the photo above. That’s me, on stage at an expo I organized, next to fashionista Amy Tara Koch. This was a major event and my makeup wasn’t on yet, my hair wasn’t straightened, I’m still in the capri pants I unloaded all the boxes in (I packed a skirt–so there was good intent!), and check out the footwear. It’s a wonder Amy even let me on stage with her. My favorite shoes are flip flops and I can’t even tell you the last time I wore heels. I am very well-endowed up top and like to hide that when I can, so instead of shapely I just look frumpy. I have pretty good hair when I don’t throw it in a pony tail (next to never). My friends always act stunned when I actually wear makeup, not realizing that there’s a hottie hidden inside. I know I’m in there and draw it out when I need/want, but day to day I’m no diva. Maybe a “Style Session” with the Moms Fashion File while I’m at the Blogher Conference would change that. I’m certainly game to try and have no doubt my five year old would be impressed.

Funny. We must be related! LOL I just got caught in the supermarket today looking a mess! I saw my well-dressed neighbor and I had a T-shirt on that was inside out, my hair in a ponytail and I looked like I was really in a rush. I was so embarrassed! But as VERY busy moms, extremely busy moms it is understandable Desiree so don’t beat yourself up! 🙂

Thanks Kia! I try not to beat myself up but I really do hate it when I get caught looking my worst when I have pals who are always looking so good.

It’s great to read something that’s both ejnoalybe and provides pragmatisdc solutions.

I’ve learned a lot from my 5 year old too. But you should be encouraged by her, don’t give up. Thanks so much for entering and we’ll announce the winner soon.
