Honoring Veterans’ Families–Operation Shower
As the nation celebrates its veterans, it’s fitting to draw attention to Operation Shower, a non-profit organization that throws baby showers for military families. It’s tough to go through pregnancy, birth and the first few months of a newborn’s life when your spouse is deployed. And even those with spouses home with them are typically far from extended family. Operation Shower steps in to bring joy during this special time, showering the expectants with a fun event and lots of freebies, donated by companies that support the cause such as Layla Grayce, Baby K’tan, Britax and Carousel Designs. Even Disney Baby has donated thousands of its fun new onesies for these special babies. PGA hosts many of the showers during major golf tournaments, another way to show its support for the nation’s armed forces. I’ve had the pleasure of helping with some of these showers through my baby planning company, Bottles to Britches, and have to say it’s incredibly rewarding to connect with these military families.
If you’d like to help Operation Shower, you may want to jump in on a charity twitter party set up for next Tuesday, November 15th. You can find out more here. Stress Free Baby has donated a huge prize pack full of this season’s hottest toys! Be sure to enter and attend.
Meantime, if you see someone with a connection to the military, please offer your thanks for their service. We should be sure to show our thanks beyond Veteran’s Day.
