Rental Option Could Help with Hard to Find Toys
If you can’t find or afford that toy that your child really wants this holiday season, I may have a fabulous option for you, but I have to warn you, it’s sneaky.
Ready?
Why not rent the toy?
You know they’re only going to play with it for for a little while anyway, and then it’ll end up in the back of the closet or high on a shelf, forgotten. So, why not jump online and sign up for a rental plan? The toys get delivered right to your door.
There are rental plans at Toygaroo.com that range from $24.99 for four toys to $52.99 for eight toys. A monthly membership at Babyplays.com starts at $19.99. If it turns out the kids really love the toy and want to keep it, you can buy it at a reduced price. Otherwise, you sneak it right on out the door to return to the rental company. They’ll never miss it.
I haven’t tried the services listed since they seem to specialize in baby items, so I can’t tell you how well it works or whether it’s simple. However, when I look around my kids’ rooms at toys they HAD to have in holidays past, it’s hard to explain to myself why a $99 robot was so important when it never even had the batteries installed. I would have happily rented it instead. I’m sure if a toy rental company for the older set doesn’t exist yet then it’s on the way soon.
Maybe not every toy is a good choice for rental, but it may be worth considering for some of the pricier ones on your child’s wish list.

What a cool idea…there are so many of the “awesome” toys we get, and then two weeks later, they want nothing to do with them.
