A Story of Love, Life and Loss –The Baby Induced to Meet Her Dying Daddy
Mark Aulger passed away holding his new baby in his arms.
The child wasn’t due for two more weeks, but when doctors predicted just days left for him to live, his wife was induced so that he could hold his daughter before he died.
Mark thought he had beaten death. He’d undergone eight months of chemotherapy to kill the cancer within him. But that chemo also damaged his lungs. When doctors diagnosed the new illness, they predicted he had five days left to live.
So, his dying wish to hold his baby came true. He held her for 45 minutes after her birth. The next day he held her for a minute, then slipped into a coma.
On his dying day, his wife says she put the baby in his arms, held his hand, and watched as he took his last breath.
There are four other children in this family, now full of grief.
But also full of love for the newest member.
And also, a community rallying to help them each get through, as told in this story that aired on their local television affiliate. It’s definitely worth watching.

This is so sad. This world is so unfair sometimes but like I’ve been telling myself lately, everything happens for a reason, right?
