Proud Moms, the Olympics and P&G
[hana-code-insert name=’pandg’ /]
With the Olympics right around the corner, you can bet there are some proud moms out there waiting to see their child’s dreams come true, or to be there to support the athletes who come home without a medal.
Procter & Gamble is tapping into that pride with an inspirational video honoring those moms who are the force behind the athletes. You know the moms…the ones up at the crack of dawn (and before), getting their child to practices for whatever sport that fills their heart. They are the moms who spend night after night, weekend after weekend, driving their children to competitions however far away.
P & G gets it. They know moms are the believers backing the dreamers. And when you watch this video, you can’t help but cry.
I have to praise P & G for tapping into that emotion, the swelling pride only a mother can feel as their child pursues their dreams.
I praise P & G for backing moms every day, with products that make being a mom easier. Whether it’s through a sweet smelling fabric softener like Downy or a stain-removing clothes detergent like Tide, or through their P & G Everyday Solutions discount offers.
I praise P & G for donating hundreds of samples of their products to the moms who will be attending the Atlanta Baby and Child Expo Mother’s Day weekend. They know they have a good thing and want others to know it, just like the mothers who support their little athletes who dream of competing on the world stage someday, living the Olympic dream.

This is a classic example of sexual discrimination. Does P&G know that there is mum as well as dad. Why on earth it thinks “the swelling pride only a mother can feel as their child pursues their dreams”, but not dad. I am a dad who also getting my children to practices for whatever sport that fills their heart. I spend night after night, weekend after weekend, driving my children to competitions however far away. Why don’t dads get honoured too?

Antonio…you are right…many dads are right there, too. I have a feeling you’ll see something similar for Father’s Day. I think it’s the holiday they are tying into right now.
