The Flu is Not Festive–Time for a Shot
Ever had the flu?
It’s not very festive.
My son got it one year on Christmas Eve. He was nine years old.
He threw up every hour all night, right up through Christmas morning.
We were anything but jolly.
He looks back and considers it one of his best holidays because I felt so bad for him I completely folded and went and bought him a new Nintendo game system. It was too big a splurge for a kid who really didn’t need such an elaborate present. But a kid who puked all night and into Christmas morning? Oh yeah, he totally earned it. Santa and ALL of his elves would have agreed.
But I never want to see that happen again. Not to him, not to me, not to anyone.
So I get a flu shot, each and every year. And I try to convince others to do the same.
It’s easier than ever these days.
I stopped by the MinuteClinic to get mine this year. I was in and out in no time, and didn’t have to make an appointment. I love that kind of flexibility. I don’t have time to take half a day to schedule a shot with my doctor’s office, drive all the way over there, wait in the lobby and then wait for the doc. With this, you just stop by any CVS/pharmacy store that you pass with a MinuteClinic in it.
Easy breezy, and no sniffly sneezy (yeah, I made that up). Even better, no vomiting all night on Christmas Eve.
Ho, ho, ho to me!
