My children’s teachers. My own teachers.
Thank you.
Thank you for caring for my children. And for me.
Thank you for treating them like your very own while they were with you.
I’m not just saying thank you for giving them knowledge. I’m saying thanks for showing them concern. A hug when they were sad. A ‘good job’ when they need encouragement. A gentle nudge when they went a little off track. For truly looking after their well-being.
And for being willing to put your own life before theirs in a crisis.
I know you would, just as the teachers did in Connecticut, during that horrible shooting that took so many innocent lives.
So often, we hear stories about teachers who fail us somehow.
Yet, in so many ways, so many others far exceed our expectations.
You are one of those people.
You are one of the great ones.
Each and every day, you quietly go about your job, your calling, teaching my child so many things, caring in so many ways.
And I thank you.
Sincerely.
THANK YOU. Today. And Always.
