World Water Day PUR Filter Giveaway
Safe drinking water is something our children take for granted most days, but that’s not the case for other children around the world, including children who die from disease and illness related to the unsafe drinking water they have access to.
The fact is one child dies every 20 seconds due to disease caused by unclean water.
Every 20 seconds!!!
Last Friday (March 22nd) marked the 20th annual World Water Day, a day designed to raise awareness that more than 4,000 children in developing countries die every day from those illnesses and diseases connected to tainted water supplies.
There are groups trying to help, and companies, too, including PUR Water Filtration Systems.
When a rep for the company contacted me about this issue, I couldn’t resist agreeing to help.
Think about it. We take clean water for granted. It’s a given that we simply don’t have to give it a second thought. I can’t imagine being a mother in a country where this needs to be a concern.
But the fact is, lots of mothers do have to be worried about their water.
Here’s the nitty gritty on the issue:
- 783 million people in the world do not have access to clean, safe water
- Almost 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation.
- 1.4 million children die every year as a result of diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation.
- This amounts to around 4,000 deaths a day or one every 20 seconds.
Purchase of PUR products helps provide funding for clean drinking water to those who need it the most. Through an ongoing partnership with Procter & Gamble’s Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) program, PUR provides money and resources to donate clean drinking water to children in the developing world. You can also visit the PUR Facebook page and donate 10 liters of clean water to those in need with just one click through the Daily Drop program every day.
Meantime, here in the US the Environmental Protection Agency and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say there may be as many as 16 million waterborne illnesses a year associated with drinking water. An at-home filtration system, such as PUR Water Filters, can ensure your family is drinking clean, crisp-tasting water.
We have one Advanced Faucet Water Filter to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is comment below with a note that you visited the PUR Facebook page and clicked on the Daily Drop program. We’re on the honor system around here, so no need to send a screen shot or anything. We know you’ll do it because it’s easy and it’s right.
You have until midnight EST April 11th to enter. You must be 18 and a US resident to enter.
Good luck, and thanks!
