Finding My “ME” in Australia– Expedia Viewfinder Film Contest
When I was a little girl, I dreamed of going to Australia one day.
I’m no longer little, but the dream is still very much alive.
Something about the country always drew me in.
It started with the cuddly looking koala bears (the one seen above was given to me when I was 11 and has somehow held it together through the years).
Then, it was the stunning views along the coast that I longed to see first-hand.
As the years passed, the sexy accents on those rugged men who call Australia home became part of the appeal, too.
As I aged, the attraction only grew. Life just got in the way of this awesome expedition.
You see, I’m a mom, and with four kiddos in my family, there’s always something else I have to do with the money I could be spending on a visit ‘down under’. Mortgage payments. Braces for the kids. Now, college for my son.
It’s been all about everyone else for a very long time.
I’ve recently learned I need to make time for me, too.
So, when I heard about the Expedia Viewfinder Film Contest, offering a trip for a travel blogger to one of five destinations, including Australia, where the blogger would star in a two to three minute film, I saw an opportunity.
Expedia is now famous for its “Find Yours” campaign.
Well, I want to “Find My” ME again.
That’s right.
I want to take that dream trip to Australia and find ME, the REAL ME…the spunky, fun-loving, thrill-seeking gal who has slowly faded into the background through the years.
Along with the koala bears, the gorgeous coastal views and the sexy accents, I think I’ll find my ‘me’ again living out this Aussie dream of mine. And I believe the impact will last longer than the trip.
After all, they say ‘there’s nothing like Australia’.
And there’s nothing like the real me, either.
I miss that gal and hope to re-discover her while finally discovering Australia.
