Grill Guru Chosen–Macy’s Sizzling Showdown Winner Named

It somehow seems fitting that the person who took home the grand prize for the Macy’s Sizzle Showdown was a gal from Oklahoma who created ‘Sizzled Stars and Stripes Surf-in-Turf Grill”.

Leah Lyon won $10,000 and a trip to May’s 4th of July Fireworks Celebration in New York City.

The Showdown took place at Macy’s Lenox Square in Atlanta, with Macy’s Culinary Council acting as judges.  Cat Cora, Marc Forgione and Stephanie Izard sampled the meals created by each competitor in this finale while Tracye Hutchins of CBS Atlanta emceed.

Six finalists traveled from all over the country to compete in this final grill-off.  They were part of the “Macy’s Great American Grilling Guru” national search.  The contest launched on Macy’s Facebook page as part of its summer celebration of “American Icons.”  During April, people across the nation submitted prized recipes along with images of the finished dish for a chance to win a spot in the “Sizzle Showdown.” The finalists faced off in Atlanta with Lyon coming out the leader.
