King & Prince Resort at St. Simons Island Renovation Nearly Complete
The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is like a cozy castle by the sea, well into a facelift that will leave this historic resort completely renovated, with everything from updated common areas to new dining options.
The renovation of this St. Simons Island, GA, resort started last November and is slated to finish by Valentine’s Day this year.
Generations of families have enjoyed the lobby Atrium with its indoor pool, and that area is now being updated with an entirely transformed space that gives the resort a touch of modern luxury, while still paying tribute to Southern hospitality.
The $7.7 million renovation will complete the project that began in the Winter of 2012 with the renovation of event space, front desk and outdoor pool complex.
Other features of the resort remain, from the famous swings that overlook the water to the spectacular pool area designed for families with children of all ages.
And, of course, there’s no improving on the beach that the resort overlooks. Visitors can still enjoy long walks at low tide and stunning views at high tide, as the water laps all the way up to the rocks off the pool.
The dining options are better than ever with a pastry chef dedicated to the resort and another chef specializing in international cuisine. In my humble opinion, though, it’s still the shrimp and grits that are its crowning glory.
To me, that meal is the definition of what makes this resort so regal: It honors its past, embraces its coastal treasures, and leaves your soul (and belly) feeling full and blessed.
I personally can’t wait to see the sweet new castle by the sea in all of its shining glory.
