Coffee or Sex–What Would You Pick First Thing in the Morning?
I’m not a coffee drinker, so this question is pointless to me, but if you had to pick between coffee or sex first thing in the morning, what would you choose?
Well, the folks at the Le Méridien Hotels commissioned a survey on the topic. I know the results certainly surprised me.
The findings: coffee trumps sex as the ideal wake-up call for more than half (53%) of respondents.
Seriously? At least the number is close.
The Le Méridien Hotels brand is taking that survey info and launching a new Master Barista program at each hotel in the chain.
That’s right. Every hotel has a coffee ambassador on-property. In fact, at the Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter, the Master Barista is trying a few Valentine’s Day-themed coffee cocktails. Guess what? They’re sharing the recipes because they insist they’re good at home (though the coffee drinkers I know seem to think it tastes better when someone else makes their coffee for them).
If you want to try making some for yourself or someone you love, here’s your how-to:
Rose Shooter
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Illy Espresso
- ½ oz coffee liqueur
- Pink colored whipped cream (colored with food coloring and rose syrup)
- Mint leaf
Method:
- Pour coffee liqueur into shooter glass
- Brew a single Illy Espresso on top of the liqueur
- Place whipped cream on top, if possible in a flower
- Garnish with mint leaf
Sparkling Illy
Ingredients:
- 1 oz sparkling wine
- 1 oz Illy Espresso
- ½ oz simple syrup
- 1 cocktail cherry
Method:
- Pour the sparkling wine into the champagne flute
- Add the simple syrup and cherry syrup into the sparkling wine
- Carefully stir with a bar spoon and add the cocktail cherry into the sparkling wine
- Prepare Illy Freddo with a mixer or shaker
- Pour the Illy Freddo on top of the sparkling wine
You all enjoy the coffee. I have other plans for my wake-up call.
I hear great things about the Le Meridien in Atlanta. I haven’t stayed there, yet, but hope to soon. I’ll let you know all about it when I do.
