2014 Ford Fiesta Review and MyKey Technology
One of the most difficult things we have to do as a parent is letting go of our children, whether it’s sending them off to college or just down the street on a date.
We hope we’ve raised them well enough to follow our advice, like not driving too fast, or wearing their seatbelt before the car even moves. But wouldn’t it be nice if you could be SURE they were being safe?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta gives you that certainty, thanks to the MyKey technology.
Essentially, with Ford’s MyKey, the car comes with two keys—an administrator key and a teen key. The administrator key enables parents to configure maximum speed and audio volume limits. It also mutes audio until seat belts are fastened and ensures driver aids, safety systems and more vigorous alerts cannot be deactivated when used.
The MyKey technology is part of six million Ford and Lincoln vehicles now.
And that’s not the only feature you’ll like in this car (or, my kid’s name for it—the ‘happy car’). They like the green color that’s so hot these days (it turns heads, no doubt).
It offers the following standard safety features:
- AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control
- Dual-stage first-row airbags
- Driver knee airbag
- Side-impact airbags
- Side-curtain airbags
- Four-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System
- LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System
- Child-safety rear locks
- Anti-theft engine immobilizer
- Improved side-impact safety capabilities

The car or the key? The green color isn’t neon…it is more a nice shade of Kermit. 🙂 I liked it.
