9/11 Memorial Site in New York City
As the 9/11 Museum is dedicated in New York City today, I can’t help but reflect back on my own visit to the memorial site a year and a half ago. At that time, the museum was under construction. Just looking through the panes of glass, down into the scene of what was to become, I could tell then it was going to be incredible. I can’t wait to go see it myself on my next visit into New York City. I know the museum will be as moving to me emotionally as the rest of the memorial site.
I learned a great deal at the memorial site from one of the volunteers who was there that day. He could recite every little fact that you could know about the memorial site…from details on why certain buildings were rebuilt in the exact spots where they were to the history of the ‘Survivor Tree’.
You can hear from him in the video below…the video I shot while at the memorial site.
Please listen all the way through and understand how important this amazing memorial is.
To this day, I carry a keychain purchased from the 911 gift shop during my visit–all proceeds help keep the site running and free to the public (they ask that you make reservations online). It reads: NO DAY SHALL ERASE YOU FROM THE MEMORY OF TIME. Let’s make sure that holds true forever by bringing our own families to this solemn spot, sharing the story of that horrible day with the hope that we never again see such misery in America.
God bless America.
