America’s Largest Home for the Holidays: Biltmore Estate #IGTT
For more than a century, Christmas celebrations at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, have made an impression, and this year’s decorations continue the tradition of overwhelming opulence.
The Biltmore House Christmas Tours walk you through a sense of the Gilded Age, incorporating George Vanderbilt’s priceless collections with vintage holiday décor.
With 250-rooms, the French Renaissance house is America’s largest home. It’s always impressive, but seeing it over the holidays will leave you speechless.
My personal favorite room: the Biltmore library. Seeing it adorned in evergreens and deep red velvet make it beyond stunning.
The estate goes all out each year, and just adding the tree is a major undertaking, requiring the assistance of dozens of staff members (just watch the video below to get a peek at how it all comes together). The scent of the 34-foot Fraser fir Christmas tree reaches well-beyond the Banquet Hall.

There are actually 60 trees throughout Biltmore House, each designed and decorated by the floral team.
Out on the front lawn, a 55 foot Norway spruce is lit with 45,000 little white lights serves as center stage as local choirs and small musical ensembles perform.
Christmas celebrations run through January 3rd at Biltmore Estates.
The Candlelight Christmas Evenings include an evening reservation to tour Biltmore House, along with daytime admission to Biltmore’s gardens, Antler Hill Village (where you can find shops, tour the winery and eat in one of the multiple dining options on the property).
The basic Winery tour and wine tasting is free with your estate admission. Something else your family will enjoy over the holidays: The Dining Room at Inn on Biltmore Estate offers its annual Gingerbread House Tea on Dec. 18, 19, and 20. Guests can assemble a gingerbread house with the help of a pastry chef while enjoying afternoon tea.
If you want to extend your visit to Biltmore, consider reserving a stay at the four-star Inn on Biltmore Estate. We loved the ease of staying right there and enjoying the restaurants, shops and winery, along with a horseback riding excursion. There are several special packages for the holidays.
