Scandal fans know First Lady Mellie Grant seems to be on the losing end of love more than she’d like, but the actress who plays her, Bellamy Young, knows exactly where to find love—the unconditional kind. The Shelter Project. And she suggests—if you’re feeling lonely and have some love to give—that you turn there, too.
Every year, approximately three to four million pets are adopted from shelter and rescue groups, but 2.4 million healthy and treatable pets still need help.
You can help them at The Shelter Pet Project, a collaborative effort between The Humane Society of the United States, Maddie’s Fund®, and the Ad Council.
The goal of The Shelter Pet Project is to make shelters and rescue groups the first place people turn when looking to get a new pet.
Young stars in a new online video featuring her adopted dog Bean and adopted cat Sadie. The video helps break down misconceptions surrounding shelter pets and spreads the word that pets in shelters are wonderful and loveable.
I know this firsthand because I’ve always adopted shelter pets, even from other countries. All you have to do is step foot into an animal shelter—just once—and you’ll want to adopt these sweet animals, too.
But with this video, you don’t even have to leave your home to fall in love.
Check it out and you’ll see what I mean.
