Cirque du Soleil Returns to Atlanta for Kurios Show
If you’ve been anywhere near Atlantic Station or passed by it on the highway recently, then you’ve probably seen the signature yellow and blue striped tents letting you know Cirque du Soleil is back in town.
The first time I saw a Cirque du Soleil show, I couldn’t wait to tell the world what I saw…it was like the circus on steroids, without the animals.
And I mean that in a good way…not to imply that any of the talented performers takes any kind of performance enhancing drug, either, though I don’t know exactly HOW they do what they do, other than some incredibly unique talent, determination and discipline.
They are athletes, acrobats and artists.
And now, the Cirque performers are back in Atlanta with a new show: KURIOS (pronounced like the word curious) – Cabinet of Curiosities.
Here’s the story, straight from the PR folks: In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a Seeker discovers that in order to glimpse the marvels that lie just below the surface, we must first learn to close our eyes.
In his larger-than-life curio cabinet, the Seeker is convinced that there exists a hidden, invisible world – a place where the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await. A collection of otherworldly characters suddenly steps into his makeshift mechanical world. When the outlandish, benevolent characters turn his world upside down with a touch of poetry and humor in an attempt to ignite the Seeker’s imagination, his curios jump to life one by one before his very eyes.
Here’s the trailer.
