This month, I am part of the Vote for Travel series hosted by my fellow travel-loving friend, Jen Reyneri, and Word Traveling. There are 30+ bloggers taking part, sharing their thoughts on what makes travel great, along with incredible ways to travel. And, since it’s an election year, we figured we’d make it easy to show your support for something this simple.

Vote for…

At Stress-free, baby!, you know how much travel means to me already. I believe there’s no greater gift you can give your family than travel—especially when you can travel together—because you are also giving the gift of your time, quite often away from life’s regular demands, and in a way that makes you a team exploring something different from your every day life.

I don’t want you to limit the gift to your children, either. For example, what better gift can you imagine for your parents?

My oldest child is 21 and I’d love nothing more than for him to tell me he’d like to spend a weekend with just me in some wonderful place. I know my mom feels the same way about me.

So, how about giving your mom a special getaway for Mother’s Day? You don’t have to go away on the holiday…maybe just take her for breakfast and surprise her with an invite to a weekend away somewhere amazing (to be redeemed later). I love one-on-one time with my mom, and I promise you, nothing will give you that coveted ‘favorite kid’ status quicker than whisking your mom away to somewhere wonderful.

We included my mom on a recent cruise and she was delighted to be part of the fun. Plus, it was a gift to me to have her along—to build those memories with my children who don’t see her nearly enough.

So, go ahead and make it happen for your mom!
