Doing ALL the Things Each Day with Encour for Energy
(Note: The shot above will make sense after you read the story. Also note, I was paid to try this product and write a review. As always, my opinion remains my own.)
I have a little war going on in my head these days. I’m getting up there in age, and know that people are supposed to start slowing down after their 40s, right? But I also like to believe (and please don’t disagree) that 50 is the new 30, and there’s no reason to do less if my body is willing to go along with my mind.
Problem is, my body wasn’t as willing as it had been years before.
The inches were being added to all the wrong places. The pounds were adding up. And I was tired. Not just tired, but TIRED.
That’s not the life I wanted to live, so I started looking for answers.
I looked at the serving sizes I was eating, the exercise I wasn’t doing, and talked to my doctor about the exhaustion.
She blamed it on age. And she wasn’t wrong.
The older we get, the harder it is to lose that extra weight, and the easier it is to put it on. So I decided to get serious about that.
At the same time, a friend reached out and asked if I’d ever heard of Creatine. She’d just tried it in a product called Encour and said it made a huge difference in her energy levels, and suggested I give it a try. Knowing I have this blog, she said she’d pay me to review it for the company, and offer up my honest opinion.
She didn’t have to twist my arm. After all, what did I have to lose?
But first, what exactly IS it? I’m about to get a little science-y here, but be patient. It’s important.
She explained Creatine is something that supplies energy to cells throughout our bodies, especially muscle cells. We usually get it from red meat and fish, or it’s made by our own bodies. Except until we age. Then our levels fall, and we need to rely on a supplement to give our body that energy source.
And it was a supplement she wanted me to try, in Encour.
Encour comes in a packet of nutrient powder you just pour into a glass of water, and drink every day. It’s touted as anti-aging, so it’s also supposed to help with focus and keeping the mind sharp. OK. I’ll play.
She warned me it would take a couple weeks to make a difference, and I had to be religious about drinking it every day.
So, when the packets showed up at my door (you can order it through their site or on Amazon), I was excited to give them a taste. I even recorded an open-boxing video of the grand event (you can see it here, complete with a taste test).
And then I went to drinking them, day after day. I was disappointed that I didn’t see an overnight improvement, but I’d been warned it took time (patience is no strength of mine). I gave myself a reality check and kept drinking. This isn’t a stimulant, so it’s not like you can expect an immediate rush of energy, but also won’t have jitters or crashes. It works if you’re low-carb, gluten-free, or vegan. You just have to drink it each day, and wait to see the result.
And it turned out my friend was right. After about three weeks, I noticed a little more kick in my step. A desire to actually get my body moving again. The mind was also eager to get going, so I started taking on more and more activities that got my body and mind working together again.
(This is the part where that photo above makes sense.)
I needed gravel spread around a firepit I’d built a few months before. So I bought 32 bags, containing 50 pounds of gravel EACH, and not only carried them from my car to the backyard, I then spread each and every bag around the fire pit. Myself. You read that right. In two afternoons (only because I didn’t buy enough the first time I went and then it rained on me).
I noticed in my kitchen there were big stains forming on my new granite countertops. It turned out the people who installed them the year before never sealed them. I tried when I moved in, but did it wrong, and was now paying for it with huge gray stains. Well, a TikTok video I stumbled across showed me a product that would remove it, so I gave it a whirl. Before I knew it, the stains were gone and I was resealing my entire kitchen countertops–this time with the right products. Saved myself thousands not having to replace that granite. I was liking the energy I was getting from these sweet drinks.
And then I realized the driveway and sidewalk up to my front door desperately needed to be pressure washed. So I took on that project the following weekend. I have a massive driveway. I joke that it’s more like an airport runway strip. But I went out there, and section by section, pressure cleaned that thing until it looked like new. Again, all on my own. And I still had the energy to offer to pressure wash my neighbor’s driveway, but he turned me down, saying something about how he thought driveways were SUPPOSED to be dirty. His loss.
I didn’t stop there. Next I got it in my head that the tiles in my kitchen and sunroom needed new grout. It honestly needed to happen a year ago, when I first moved into my house, but I was overwhelmed at the time. Now, I felt pretty much like I could tackle anything. So I did it. With a little help from YouTube and the guy at my local hardware store, I went to town removing the old grout, cleaning up the mess, and putting down new grout. That one kept me up til around 1am, but I got it done. Again, on my own.
Then the workouts turned away from home improvement projects to my latest passion, rowing. I discovered this cool rowing machine that uses videos to make you feel as though you’re out there on the water, rowing right along with these professional athletes. I’m a water baby, and feeling like I’m on the water while I exercise is a game-changer for me. The machine showed up one Tuesday morning at my house and I’ve been on it rowing at least once a day in 15, 20, or 30 minute workouts every day since. Me, enjoying exercise.
I’m not sure all of this is due to the Encour improving my Creatine levels, but I’m not really willing to stop using it to find out. I’ve never done any of these crazy projects before. Barely used power tools. Now I am Miss Fix-it and Miss Get Fit. I like the ‘me’ that is getting healthy again, full of energy to tackle whatever crazy project hits me, or to row (virtually) along with Olympic champions on a machine in my own home.
The war in my head is now less a battle, and more an excuse. And I don’t want to be the gal making excuses. I’m not too old. And as long as I’m breathing, I’d like to think I can do anything I set my mind to, and my 51 (or 31, depending on what you believe) year old body will follow!
At $30 for a 30-day supply of the energy-inducing Encour, I’ll drink to that!
