Great App for Beginning Readers–My Little Pony
When I bought my iPad, I was so excited about being able to work more while on the go, but it’s my daughter who has taken it over, obsessed with all the cool apps, like the ‘My Little Pony’ one she just downloaded this week. I love it because she’s working hard on her reading skills and a mom can only do so much. My Little Pony…well, that’s another story. She’ll sit and watch the story over and over, not realizing she’s building her reading, vocabulary and problem-solving skills, too. And here’s the cool part. This app is so much more than a book. Her favorite part is the puzzle where you have to find certain items by touching the screen. I think the maze is pretty neat (you actually tilt the iPad to get the characters going in the direction you want). We both love that it can be personalized, where we record her name and the story then inserts it during certain parts of the story.
We were introduced to the app through Ruckus Media Group. There are several others she enjoys, too, including Andrew Answers (this one cracks me up!), Present for Milo and Chuck and Friends. My Little Pony is no doubt her favorite, though. We were asked to review the apps and I can honestly say at $3.99 for the download, it’s priced less than I’d pay for the book in most stores, and it does so much more! You can buy it by clicking here.
