Heaven’s Rain–A Lesson in Forgiveness on GMC
Can you imagine watching your parents murdered, suffering helpless while your sister is raped, and being shot yourself, then left for dead? Now, can you imagine forgiving the person who put you through that Hell?
Brooks Douglass survived that torture and ultimately found a way to forgive the murderers responsible for the crimes.
His story is shared in the GMC movie Heaven’s Rain. It ran Sunday night, but there’s an encore presentation this Thursday, April 26th, just in case you missed it.
Douglass became of the nations’ foremost advocates for crime victims’ rights, authoring groundbreaking legislation while serving in political office years after the crimes. Even during this week, National Crime Victim’s Week, he’s slated to speak to congress about the Victims’ Rights Amendment.
He was elected to the Oklahoma senate at just 27 years old. He had already served in the military, and after his time in office he wrote the story Heaven’s Rain, based on his own experience.
It’s a must-see movie. It’s too intense for young children, but provides a valuable lesson for the rest of us.
